REALTORS® Expo helps to Rebuild New Orleans The 2006 REALTORS® Conference & Expo, themed NARdi Gras, brought more than 23,000 REALTORS® and guests to the city of New Orleans. Featuring more new products & services, education sessions and community outreach programs than ever before, New Orleans was alive with REALTORS®! More than 2,000 volunteers helped to rebuild and renovate 8 volunteer programs throughout the city. Three of these programs were sponsored by exhibiting companies; Lowe’s Habitat for Humanity, Countrywide Rebuilding Together and GE Security’s City Park Clean Up. The exhibit hall housed an all time record of 651 exhibiting companies covering 150,000 net square feet packed with the latest new products and services supporting the real estate industry. One of the many highlights of the event included an international and second home and investment pavilion. SIMA, Europe’s largest Second Home/Resort Expo of worldwide properties, came to America! NAR and SIMA joined forces to present some of the world’s finest second home and resort developments. REALTORS® explored international real estate opportunities for them and their clients in one convenient location at the REALTORS® Expo. According to Larry S. Cohen with Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa in Orlando, FL, “As a first time participant in the NAR trade show, I was very pleased to meet and contract with brokers and investors from five different countries.” Other highlights of the event included the General Session, featuring two distinguished past presidents – President George H.W. Bush and President Bill Clinton. On Saturday night, thousands of REALTORS® descended on Bourbon Street to celebrate NARdi Gras on Bourbon Street; complete with a float parade, jazz band and revelers. Completing the festivities, attendees enjoyed the sweet sounds of Harry Connick Jr. at the Celebrity Concert event held Sunday evening. Future REALTOR® events include the 2007 Midyear Trade Expo, to be held May 16-18, 2007 in Washington, DC. The 2007 Realtors® Annual Conference & Expo is scheduled to be held at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, NV, November 13-16, 2007.
