ALA’s Midwinter Meeting Is Largest Ever The American Library Association (ALA) Midwinter Meeting came to a close today in San Antonio, Texas, topping 90,000 square feet of exhibit space for the first time in its 80 year history. Ranked second is size only to the ALA’s Annual Conference; the exhibit floor featured over 70 first time exhibitors. “We are extremely happy that we were able to provide attendees a broad range of products and services in the exhibit hall” noted Deidre Ross, CMP, ALA director of conference services, “especially so many first time exhibitors. ALA is a great place for new companies to reach out to the library market; with over 92% of the attendees involved in purchasing decisions for their libraries, this is certainly the place to get your product recognized.” 8,326 librarians attended the Midwinter Meeting which was highlighted by the announcements of the "Academy Awards" of children's literature - the Newbery and Caldecott Medals - and other awards and lists recognizing the best in literature and audiovisual materials for children, teens and adults.
